The members and regular visitors who attend Plumstead Church, represent 23 countries from around the world.
Each member of the Seventh-day Adventist denomination is unique and has a special, personal contribution to make to the church. Even though we come from different backgrounds and cultures our members do share a lot of similar characteristics.
We believe that we are sinners saved by God's unlimited grace. We do not believe we are faultless, or that we are better than anyone else, but that we are in need of a loving Saviour. So in our church you'll find a warm group of people who will welcome you into their fellowship, because we know that all people are priceless in God's eyes.
We realise Our Name helps define who we are:
"Seventh-day" refers to our belief in the Seventh-day Sabbath (Saturday).
"Adventist" refers to our belief in the second advent or the literal second-coming of Jesus.
As Adventists, we are a growing worldwide fellowship of Christians who want to make Jesus the centre of all we believe and do.
The latest statistics available as as 31 Dec 2008, shows the denomination worldwide had now reached 15.9 million members. Currently the growth rate is almost one million every year, with new members joining the church at a rate of one every 35 seconds. Globally, the church is doubling in size every 12 years.
We believe that God "desires everyone to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth" (1 Timothy 2:4), and that belief leads us to present God's message of love to ALL people.
The Seventh-day Adventist Church has one of the largest private parochial educational systems in the world, with more than 7,597 schools (includes colleges & universities) with a combined enrolment of more than 1.5 million students. It also operates 729 hospitals and clinics around the world, accomodating more than 14.9 million outpatients. The church in fulfilling its mission also uses weekly television programmes, satellite broadcasting, world radio and has 61 publishing houses and branches (with 343 languages used in its publications).
